Job Description

The Guardant Health Product Director, reports to the Senior Director of Product Management. The Product Director will be responsible for driving market evolution in one of Guardant Health’s leading oncology products. This is a pivotal role for a strategic and execution-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of product innovation, clinical impact, and commercial growth. The Product Director will lead the product strategy, roadmap execution, and commercial readiness for one of Guardant’s most strategic offerings. This Product Director will have the opportunity to shape how a high-impact diagnostic enters standard of care and influence how to accelerate adoption in a growing MRD market and will work closely with technical, clinical, medical, and commercial teams to drive product’s value proposition, evidence strategy, and product-market fit across indications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of the designated product roadmap—including new features, workflow enhancements, and indication expansion.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the field and drive future concepts for product development.
  • Drive product launch execution through phase gates, commercial excellence programs and drive overall product readiness initiatives.
  • Translate strategic goals into executable plans with clear timelines, KPIs, and milestones tied to business outcomes.
  • Key to success in this role requires best-in-class organizational skills and being responsible for results that drive impact across functions.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, clinical development, regulatory, and commercial to drive product delivery from concept to launch.
  • Identify and resolve executional risks to ensure timely and successful product development and rollout. Serve as the external spokesperson for the organization.
  • Engage directly and through sales/marketing teams with oncologists, NPs, practice managers, and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) to understand MRD use cases and pain points.
  • Engage with external BioPharma customers to navigate their MRD product needs, requirements and workflow.
  • Define and prioritize product capabilities that align with clinical workflows and improve user experience.
  • Ensure the product aligns with both physician needs and payer expectations, including actionable results and clinical utility.
  • Own the business case for one of Guardant Health’s leading products, including pricing, COGS, and contribution to Guardant’s overall oncology portfolio.
  • Monitor competitive activity in MRD and adjacent markets, and shape Guardant Health’s product market differentiation strategy accordingly.
  • Partner with Market Access and Medical Affairs teams to ensure the evidence plan supports reimbursement and payer acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to help drive compelling positioning, messaging, and launch strategies for one of Guardant Health’s leading products.
  • Support development of customer-facing materials, sales training, and field enablement to drive adoption and growth.
  • Contribute to publication planning and scientific communications that support our product’s value proposition across tumor types.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a university degree and typically 15 years of related experience; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or 8 years and a PhD; or 5 years and a PharmD/MD. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MPH, or advanced scientific degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product management or commercial strategy experience in diagnostics, oncology, or health technology is required.
  • Demonstrated success in launching and scaling healthcare products in the oncology or molecular diagnostics space.
  • Experience working in the MRD, liquid biopsy, or cancer surveillance markets is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of patient and oncologist journey/touch points in the MRD space is highly desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRD competitive space, offerings across different diagnostic providers and reimbursement strategy/landscape is critical.
  • Strong strategic thinking, execution rigor, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Prior experience with product development, lifecycle management and product launch experience are a must.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of market access, evidence generation, and provider adoption drivers.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $182,700 to $251,250. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
