Job Description

About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing the software used in the clinical laboratory to process patient samples and analyze their genomic profiles, finding the right treatment options for cancer patients based on a simple blood draw. You will manage the build and release process, including our continuous integration, and ensuring compliance with the software configuration management process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with users, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather and refine requirements

  • Build scalable infrastructure to process and manage large-scale datasets

  • Produce detailed design and code to implement features end-end from the user interface through persistent storage

  • Work on all aspects of software development in an agile environment including technical documentation, testing, and deployment of features and sub-systems

  • Work with cross-functional teams to support and maintain the deployed applications

  • Evaluate, test, and use open-source software and applications

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in web application development, enhancement, and maintenance.

  • Knowledge and experience using object-oriented programming and design patterns in production environments.

  • Proficiency in coding languages including Python, JavaScript and frameworks such as Django.

  • Proficiency in RESTful web services.

  • Solid knowledge and Strong skills working with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL

  • Experience with React, HTML5, and CSS3. Familiarity with popular React workflows like Redux

  • Experience with container platform, such as docker application running on Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of test automation and continuous integration.

  • Experience with Amazon Web Service or similar cloud architecture.

  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies.

  • Software development experience in a regulated environment preferably IVD or CLIA

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $114,800 to $154,980. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
