Who we are:

Glydways is reimagining what public transit can be. We believe that mobility is the gateway to opportunity—connecting people to housing, education, employment, commerce, and care. By making transportation more accessible, affordable, and sustainable, we empower communities to thrive and unlock economic and social prosperity.

Our mission is to revolutionize transit with a solution that delivers high capacity, exceptional user experiences, unmatched affordability, and minimal environmental impact.

The Glydways system is a groundbreaking network of carbon-neutral, interconnected transit pathways powered by standardized autonomous vehicles on dedicated roadways. Operating 24/7 with on-demand access, it offers personalized and efficient mobility—without the burden of heavy upfront infrastructure costs or ongoing taxpayer subsidies.

With Glydways, we’re building more than a transportation system; we’re creating a future where everyone, everywhere, has the freedom to move.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and support the manufacturing of enclosures for Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and other electronics components. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical design, durability, and manufacturability of our electronic assemblies for high-volume production. You will collaborate with electronics hardware, validation, and supply chain teams to ensure our products are robust and ready for mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Manufacturing:
    • Design and develop enclosures, brackets, and other mechanical components for ECUs, sensors, control modules, and power electronics, focusing on high-volume, cost-effective manufacturing.
    • Collaborate with electronics hardware teams to assess and improve the mechanical robustness of designs during early development phases.
    • Use GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to create detailed manufacturing drawings.
    • Work with suppliers to ensure components and assemblies meet automotive quality standards.
    • Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analyses to optimize designs for production.
  • Validation & Quality:
    • Support the execution of mechanical reliability tests (e.g., vibration, thermal cycling, environmental stress) on ECU enclosures.
    • Analyze field performance data and warranty returns to identify mechanical design issues and drive corrective actions.
    • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential mechanical failures.
  • Collaboration:
    • Act as a subject matter expert for mechanical design best practices within the organization.
    • Generate technical documentation, including mechanical test plans, reports, and qualification summaries.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in product development, with a focus on mechanical design for electronics, preferably in the automotive or related industries.
  • Skills:
    • Proven experience designing, validating and manufacturing mechanical enclosures for electronics.
    • Experience with various manufacturing processes - extensive die cast experience highly preferred
    • Expertise in CAD software, with CATIA preferred.
    • Strong understanding of GD&T - both interpretation and application
    • Hands-on experience with mechanical stress and life testing.
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
    • Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturers.
    • Familiarity with automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 26262).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAE/FEA (Computer-Aided Engineering/Finite Element Analysis).
  • Knowledge of materials science and their application in electronic enclosures.
