We can’t do it alone -- we’re seeking curious, capable, passionate team members motivated by the opportunity to create lasting impact on the world through their work. This role offers ample growth opportunities while working side-by-side with an impassioned, multi-disciplinary team spanning mechanical design, software, computer vision, systems integration, and ops to design and operationalize world-changing technology.

Fulfil is committed to creating an inclusive culture, and we celebrate diversity of all kinds. If this sounds like the kind of environment that you find intriguing, then please apply even if you don’t feel you meet all the requirements listed below. We'd love to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team as a hands-on engineer responsible for ensuring the successful operation of all elements in a complex multi-robot system. The ideal candidate has both strong analytical and hands on aptitude and is able to troubleshoot, identify root cause, and generate solutions to issues in multiple engineering fields, including: mechatronics, mechanical design, process, electronics and controls. As a lead engineer, leadership skills such as project management, mentorship, team building and a thirst for project ownership are a must, and the ability to distinguish the superb applicant from the qualified. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly talented and diverse group of people from varied backgrounds. Many on Fulfil’s engineering team bring experiences from other successful startups and other leading tech companies.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee the transition of Fulfil’s prototype systems to production
  • Own equipment early in the product development cycle and lead system-level design verification tasks including test plan definition, issue identification and analysis, root cause designation, solution development, and resolution validation
  • Understand system requirement, work with engineering team to establish and validate the operational windows, design experiments, and define test plans
  • Develop and implement bring-up, calibration, test, and quality validation procedures and systems to ensure smooth deployment of hundreds of mechanisms in facilities across the country
  • Support the team in designing for long term reliability by providing design input and by leading long term reliability testing campaigns, ensuring testing campaigns are designed to induce appropriate end-of-life failure modes
  • Own equipment deployment, validation and verification activities prior to hand-off to customer ownership
  • Own and/or assist in root cause analysis and corrective action for software/hardware components of automation equipment
  • Evaluate and identify improvements to validation process on systems integration of automated equipment
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of testing and validation procedures
  • Leverage wide breadth of engineering knowledge to generate proper solutions to a equally diverse set of problems
  • Lead projects requiring cross-team coordination, project management, resource management, decision making, and highly effective communication on tight timelines
  • Develop and maintain high level of communications with cross-functional engineering team
  • Assist growing the I&T team through leadership, mentorship, and business/operational process improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • 5+ years in robotics or automation
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience working with industrial mechatronics hardware – custom sheet metal/machined parts, motors & drives, belts/chains, bearings, sensors, actuators, etc.
  • Experience applying project management principles
  • Hands on aptitude – able to dive in and troubleshoot a variety of system issues across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Idea generation and execution
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment with the intention to have a positive impact on the world

What we’d love to see

  • Experience designing and manufacturing parts/assemblies/mechanisms
  • Experience with mechatronics systems (robotics, control systems, programming languages such as C++ is a plus)
  • Experience in food tech
  • Six Sigma or other formal quality training
  • Experience managing engineering projects
  • Not afraid of robots
