We are seeking an experienced and passionate Manager, EHS to join our team in the Retail Grocer Automation Industry. In this role, you will be responsible for driving and implementing health, safety, and environmental topics across our product development processes along with managing machinery and system installation projects across the US.

To excel in this role, you should have a strong background in EHS compliance in an engineering environment, you are a hands-on solution-oriented type person and possess excellent communication and leadership skills. You will play a vital role in promoting a strong safety culture that values the wellbeing of every employee within our engineering team and technical installation team:

What you'll do:

Develop, implement, and maintain approved safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA, State EPA, Municipal, and other regulatory bodies. Hire and manage a small functional team to support employee safety, facilities safety, deployment safety, and product safety respectively

  • Work closely with Engineering and Operations team to identify and address EHS issues related to site operations, equipment and site design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Establish, maintain, and report EHS KPIs and OKR’s
  • Participate in audits, conduct worker observations, and complete risk assessments across facilities and deployments to assess compliance and effectiveness of EHS programs.
  • Lead and facilitate development of area risk assessments (Safety RAs, JSAs, etc.)
  • Lead incident and event investigations, determine proper root cause, and implement effective mediation to prevent future incidents.
  • Develop and maintain EHS training matrix for Fulfil employees and promote zero-incident EHS culture throughout company
  • Support creation of health, safety and environmental (HSE) goals for the site management and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive HSE culture, compliance and results.
  • Assist facilities management team in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, required reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions process safety management (PSM), stormwater, etc. are met.
  • Ensure that Fulfil continuously improves its EHS performance while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Set guidelines and evaluate the effectiveness of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Advise Engineering through product development regarding product safety design and certification
  • Establish, update and enforce EHS policies in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Who you are:

  • Minimum of 10 years of significant EHS and operational experience in a professional EHS role overseeing the execution of EHS in manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Board Certificated Safety Professional (CSP) required
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Experience managing a design/product through UL/CE Certification lifecycles
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as customers and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Expertise in occupational risks prevention, design risk assessments, and planning preventive activities.
  • Experience in team development and implementation of EHS processes, procedures and best practices.
  • Self-initiative and independent work, assumption of responsibility
  • Open to extended travel to support automation installation projects.
