About this role

As a Technical Accounting Manager, you'll be at the forefront of shaping our financial landscape. We're seeking a dynamic individual to lead our technical accounting initiatives and drive excellence in financial reporting and the controls environment. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys tackling complex accounting challenges, and has a passion for implementing best practices. In this pivotal position, you'll bridge the gap between operational goals and accounting standards, ensuring Faire's financial integrity as we continue to scale. We're looking for a strategic thinker who can translate technical accounting requirements into actionable insights for the business.

As a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting You Will

  • Play a key role in driving towards IPO readiness including S-1 preparations
  • Research and prepare technical accounting positions for our significant accounting policies including revenue recognition, potential business combinations, and equity related issues
  • Proactively collaborate cross-functionally to identify and assess the accounting implications of significant transactions and new marketplace features. Determine appropriate accounting treatments, communicate financial impacts to leadership, and ensure timely and accurate recording.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of new accounting pronouncements, including collaborating with the broader finance organization to ensure effective implementation.
  • Assist with audits, including preparing technical accounting work papers for the auditors. Serve as the key point of contact with our external auditors to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAA
  • Document financial processes, accounting policies and standard operating procedures
  • Support SOX compliance efforts and assist in improvement of control procedures
  • Participate in and help lead essential accounting projects including audit readiness and management reporting
  • Draft, update, and maintain the Company’s accounting policies
  • Provide training to internal Finance and Accounting group on technical accounting matters
  • Conduct and document technical accounting research related to new business initiatives and/or complex transactions
  • Perform ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA required
  • 7+ years of experience working in a combination of auditing and technical accounting; Pre-IPO to IPO experience preferred. Big 4 experience a plus
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Product, and Sales to proactively identify accounting issues, research applicable US GAAP, IFRS, SEC, and Big 4 guides and document accounting conclusions
  • Strong analytical skills; including proven ability to independently analyze transactions and contracts and document the related accounting analysis under GAAP
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Netsuite
  • A team player and commitment to deliver outstanding results while having a fun time with your teammates doing it!

Salary Range

San Francisco & New York City: the pay range for this role is $120,000 to $165,000 per year.

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
