POSITION SUMMARY
eGenesis is seeking a GMP Lab Technician to join our Embryology team to participate in production activities of the Middleton porcine cloning (SCNT) laboratory, which is a cleanroom, GMP-compliant laboratory. In this role, you will primarily perform cloning media preparation. Additionally, you will contribute to porcine oocyte/embryo handling and characterization, cell culture, and cloning activities. You bring a strong background in media preparation/reconstitution, embryo handling, cell culture, and record-keeping. You should also be comfortable following written protocols and working alongside others with, or as, a verifier. This role is an opportunity to work with and learn from a highly collaborative, efficient team within a growing organization focused on ending the global organ shortage.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform media preparation for Embryology Team use
  • Perform reconstitution of chemicals and aliquot into single-use aliquots
  • Using a precise scale, measure out chemicals according to a strict media recipe to generate complex medias
  • Perform testing on media, as dictated by the protocol
  • Work with on-site Operations staff to ensure components and base medias required are purchased
  • Perform final processing of medias, including filtering, aliquoting, and labelling according to procedures.
  • Contribute to cell culture and prepare cell media according to procedures
  • Thaw and plate cells according to procedures
  • Detach cells during the cloning procedure to facilitate the workflow
  • Assist in laboratory upkeep, including cleaning and equipment calibration
  • Document laboratory processes and equipment operations
  • Perform verification and record-keeping tasks for cloning personnel

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in relevant area with 2+ years of relevant experience in an in vitro embryo production lab in an academic or industry setting
  • Knowledge and expertise in IVF, cell culture, embryo handling and characterization
  • Media preparation experience preferred
  • Proficient at aseptic laboratory technique
  • Basic embryo handling and evaluation abilities
  • Electronic Lab Notebook experience
  • Familiarity with Quality Control procedures - comfortable following SOPs and Procedures
  • Comfortable maintaining and using laboratory equipment
