Product Designer, Intern (Summer 2026)
DoorDash
About the Team
At DoorDash, design shapes how millions of people connect with their local economy and we put our customers at the center of our product strategy. Our design team crafts thoughtful experiences across the ecosystem, from consumers ordering their favorite meals to merchants growing their businesses and Dashers delivering with care.
About the Role
As a Product Design Intern, you’ll get to work on real projects that impact our customers, merchants, and Dashers. You’ll collaborate with product, research, data, and engineering to prototype your concepts, test with real users, and ship improvements to millions of users.
You will have the opportunity to join one of our core teams: Consumer, Merchant, Dasher, Commerce Platform, or Design Foundations. Based on your skills, interests, and business priorities you’ll be paired with a dedicated manager and supported by a community of designers passionate about learning and helping each other grow.
This will be a 12-week summer internship program hosted onsite at our San Francisco, CA office. There will be relocation support as needed.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Own design from early prototypes to polished execution, shipping impactful features that reach millions of users.
- You’ll experiment with AI to elevate your process, from building out your concepts to exploring how AI can make the product smarter, more intuitive, and human.
- Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, PMs, and researchers to identify opportunities, and ensure high quality implementation.
- Learn from mentors and peers in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment that values curiosity, craft, and collaboration.
We're excited about you because…
- You’re currently pursuing a degree in design or tech (e.g. Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Computer Science or a technology related field) with an expected graduation in Fall 2026 or Spring/Summer 2027.
- You are available from May 18th to August 7th, 2026 or June 15th to September 4th.
- You have a portfolio (school, internships, or side projects) that shows strong design fundamentals – visuals, interaction design, and user-centered problem solving.
- You’re curious about AI/LLMs and their impact on user experience. Your portfolio includes at least one case study of how you applied AI in your design process or designed an AI-powered experience.
- You’re comfortable using prototypes to communicate and test your ideas, leveraging tools like Figma and AI-driven tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to move quickly.
- You’re excited to learn, comfortable making decisions or asking for help, and able to iterate quickly as you incorporate feedback.
Compensation
The internship is 12 weeks long. The intern’s starting pay will fall within the weekly pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including education, work location, and market conditions.
Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future. In addition to base pay, interns are eligible for both a housing stipend and relocation stipend. DoorDash cares about you and your overall well-being. That’s why we offer our interns a wellness reimbursement benefit, access to an employee assistance program, in-office lunch credits and more!
