About the Team

The Demand Shaping team sits within Selection Growth Engineering, the technical backbone of DoorDash’s radius ecosystem. Selection Engineering is responsible for how stores are surfaced across all DoorDash consumer surfaces—balancing quality, cost, and speed across geographies, verticals, and demand environments.

Demand Shaping designs and operates systems that influence marketplace demand in real time through intelligent batching, dynamic radius controls, pricing levers, and consumer experiences. From dynamic and route-aware selection to consumer experience on store availability, the team builds product and algorithmic systems that align customer behavior, Dasher efficiency, and fulfillment economics—making the marketplace more affordable, adaptive, and efficient at scale.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Demand Shaping team. This is a highly cross-functional, systems-driven role at the intersection of marketplace dynamics, spatial intelligence, pricing, and consumer experience.

Your mission will be to optimize order distribution and fulfillment economics by shaping demand through dynamic selection, batching-oriented logic, and pricing- and distance-aware experiences. You’ll partner closely with Product, Ops, Data Scientists, and other Engineering teams to define strategy, execution, and long-term technical direction.

As a technical leader, you’ll ensure the team delivers high-impact marketplace systems that operate reliably at scale while remaining configurable, experiment-friendly, and grounded in real-world market behavior.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Build and lead a high-performing full-stack engineering team focused on demand shaping, batching, and marketplace optimization systems
  • Own the technical vision and roadmap for Demand Shaping, aligning product strategy with Selection Engineering’s broader mission
  • Partner deeply with Product, Ops, and Data Scientists to integrate road-distance-aware pricing, affordability optimizations, and experimentation frameworks
  • Deliver real-time, data-driven systems that balance top-line growth, delivery quality, and unit economics across markets
  • Foster a culture of ownership, rigor, and experimentation, with high standards for system correctness, scalability, and operational excellence

We’re excited about you because…

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field
  • 7+ years of industry experience
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience (team size > 5)
  • Proven experience building and scaling backend, tooling or distributed systems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially with cross-functional stakeholders
  • AI/ML experience in the optimization space is nice to have.
