Analyst, Merchant Ops
DoorDash
About the Team:
You’ll join the newly formed Analytics pod, embedded within Merchant Experience Ops. Our mission is to equip our organization with proactive forecasting, real-time monitoring, and data-driven insights that drive efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance the Merchant experience. We partner closely with Operations, S&O, Engineering, and more cross-functional stakeholders to turn raw data into high-impact decisions.
About the Role:
As an Analyst on the MxOps Analytics pod, you will:
- Own the build and maintenance of BI dashboards, ETL pipelines, and operational reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to productionize forecasting models (e.g., order volume, tablet failure, SLA anomaly detection).
- Partner with Engineering to ensure data freshness and reliable alerting for critical Ops events.
- Drive cost-benefit analyses and “what-if” simulations to quantify ROI for process or product changes.
- Produce self-serve reporting and documentation so frontline leaders can access actionable insights independently.
This role reports to a Manager on the Integration Ops team and partners closely with functional teams to deliver a seamless, data-first approach to Merchant operations. This role is expected to be hybrid and is required to be in the office at least every Thursday in 2025, with additional availability to attend cross-functional events, expos, launches, etc. The core working hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm MST. Availability to be “on call” during nights and weekends is needed to accommodate business needs.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Are Proficient in SQL & BI Tools
- Write complex SQL (CTEs, window functions) against AWS/Snowflake; build and maintain dashboards in tools like Sigma.
- Familiar with Python (pandas) for data wrangling and basic scripting.
- Understand ETL & Data Architecture
- Can interpret pipeline diagrams, collaborate with Engineers to triage failed jobs, and recommend optimizations (e.g., materialized views vs. on-the-fly queries).
- Have Strong Business Acumen & Communication Skills
- Translate business questions (“What’s the ROI of changing our tablet replacement process?”) into data requirements and metrics.
- Are a Proactive Problem Solver
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment; you ask “What data do we need?” rather than waiting for instructions.
- Curious about experimentation: you pilot new visualization techniques or metrics to improve decision-making.
We’re excited about you because you:
- Have 2+ years of hands-on analytics experience
- Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Engineering) with 2–4 years in an operations or finance analytics role, OR a Master’s + 2 years of experience
- Possess a strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and building dashboards with using BI Tools such as Tableau, Sigma, Power BI, Quicksight, Looker; Familiarity with Snowflake and Sigma is a plus
- Familiar with Python (pandas) for data wrangling and basic scripting
- Can read an ETL pipeline and collaborate with Data and Software Engineers
- Can design new metrics and collaborate with Data Scientists
- Can lead projects independently and collaborate with Operations, Product, S&O successfully influencing without authority
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills; you know how to work with individual contributors and senior leaders
- You’re curious to learn new things and find ways to improve the DoorDash ecosystem
