About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, Indirect Tax, this role will be part of the Global Indirect Tax function, supporting DoorDash’s ever-growing Indirect Tax responsibilities worldwide. The key area of focus of this role will be to support management of DoorDash’s business/gross receipts tax reporting responsibilities, implement improvements to system, processes, control, and automation, with an eye towards long-term sustainability and scalability, and provide audit support and take learnings from controversy results to help DoorDash grow. The role will have ownership of key deliverables that make an immediate impact. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for experience in building out in-house tax functions in an ever growing company, and be creative with ideas and solutions.

A successful candidate will have high level experience in preparing and reviewing U.S. indirect tax returns, primarily but not limited to Gross Receipts Taxes, account reconciliations, notice resolution and tax position determinations, in addition to implementing process controls and improvements while embracing new technologies. The candidate will need to be able to build successful relationships within Tax and across the broader company.

  • Help oversee the corporate Gross Receipts tax function for the company
  • Perform periodic forecast of tax expense for the company
  • Develop and implement process improvements including refinements to current processes and work-papers and utilizing technology to improve and enhance workflow
  • Research and document transaction tax filing issues, positions and processes
  • Partner cross-functionally with Audit, Planning and other tax, accounting and technology teams
  • Assist with other ad hoc projects
  • Support various system, process, controls, and automation implementation initiatives

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5+ years experience in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual Sales Tax, Use Tax, Gross Receipts Taxes
  • You have experience researching and documenting transaction tax filing issues, positions and processes
  • You have experience in reconciliation of transaction tax general ledger accounts and related SOX controls
  • You have experience in working in an ERP environment, Snowflake, Alteryx, and other automation tools and systems.
  • You have experience in using various productivity programs, (Microsoft Office, Google (G-sheets, docs, slides, etc).
  • You have strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • You’re an independently motivated person with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work independently.
  • You’re curious and driven to find the right answer.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have any of the following (preferred) qualifications:
    • CPA and/or MS in Tax preferred.
    • CMI, or CMI candidate
    • Experienced working audits, controversy

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within the United States.
