About the Team

DoorDash is looking for an experienced Audit Manager, Indirect Tax to join our growing Tax Team. You will play a key role in managing a portfolio of primarily U.S. indirect and/or gross receipts tax audits, although this role will expand to foreign indirect audits.

Our Tax Controversy team serves DoorDash by producing excellent controversy outcomes, providing timely and accurate information on material risks to the business, and improving the tax team with actionable feedback from audits.

About the Role

You will develop a deep knowledge of DoorDash’s business models, tax compliance history, and data sources. In your role, you will be expected to articulate a full understanding of the issues, data, and history of each audit in your portfolio, and make appropriate planning and compliance suggestions arising from these audits. You will participate in collaborative work with tax authorities during audits, as well as implement a controversy strategy when there is a good faith disagreement with the tax authorities.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Develop expertise with unsettled legal and factual issues in an emerging area of sales and use tax.
  • Gain additional experience in working on tax audits and controversies.
  • Work with the other members of the Tax Controversy team to develop new approaches in audits and tax compliance strategies.

We’re excited about you because . . .

  • You have 6+ years of experience with state and local tax compliance or audits in a corporate tax department, public accounting or consulting firm, or state revenue agency.
  • Your experience includes direct contact with tax auditors and developing good working relationships with auditors.
  • You thoroughly understand sales and use taxes, including marketplace facilitator laws.
  • You can manage multiple audits and their deadlines simultaneously.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to identify and analyze audit issues and articulate your analysis orally and in writing.
  • You can critically analyze large transactional data sets to gain mastery over the story they tell to auditors.
  • You have experience with Canadian indirect taxes, VAT, and US gross receipts taxes (e.g., Washington B&O and San Francisco GRT); nice to have
  • You have a strong moral compass and compassion for others.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Excel and other data management tools such as Altyrex or similar.

Other Preferred Qualifications
