We're looking for a Design Director to lead the ever-growing emerging verticals in Consumer products. You’ll define all kinds of exciting 0-to-1 initiatives such as Grocery, Convenience, Pharmaceuticals, and endless possibilities, in a startup-like setting within a startup. The team is still at an early stage, which means you’ll get to shape the design culture and process from the ground up and get to drive big and meaningful design problems. About the Role

As Design Director for the New Verticals Consumer Experiences team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Transition our already top-rated consumer app to the world-class super-app.
  • Be a disruptor with strong vision and leading from the front.
  • Actively practice and evangelize the customer-centric thinking organizationally
  • Play a strong thought partner to cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to realize the company’s mission and vision
  • Partner with the rest of the design leadership team to build the holistic journey in three-sided marketplace
  • Recruit best talents who will raise the bar at DoorDash
  • Coach and mentor designers on both soft and hard skills and help them develop and achieve career goals
  • Build a culture that elevates the team, in terms of both performance and morale
  • Establish the operating model that increases the team’s effectiveness
  • Align the team’s priorities and deliverables to the company’s overarching strategy and goals
  • Be the inspirational leader by your creativity, vision, commitment, and persistence

We’re excited about you because…

  • Strong portfolio showcasing the problem-solving skill at large scale and high design caliber; you MUST provide a link to your portfolio (and password if applicable) to be considered for this role
  • 10+ years of experience in design, with a minimum of 5 years in team building and management
  • Fluency in the latest product design trends, tools, and technology cross-platform
  • Must be able to work in one of our hub offices (SF, Sunnyvale, New York or Seattle) 2x per week
  • Prior design experience in the commerce/marketplace/local industry is preferred

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York and Washington.
