About the Team

This team is focused on making Merchants successful by maximizing their sales & profits. It's an interesting space where the cross functional team (Eng, Product Managers, Design, User Research, Machine Learning, Analytics, Strategy & Operations) works on new ideas, experiments and big bets to improve the Merchant's bottomline. The group has two sub-teams:

  1. Yield Management - Focused on growing off-peak demand for Merchants and spreading out peak-hour demand, thereby optimizing sales
  2. Health - Ensuring Merchants have the best setup on the DoorDash platform that positions them to make more sales

Your team will span backend, web and mobile engineers and will work across multiple platforms to tackle a variety of problems. You will partner with general managers, operations, and product leads to create a vision and roadmap to help merchants propel their businesses to new heights.

  • Work with a variety of cross functional stakeholders (including but not limited to Design, Machine Learning, Analytics, User Research, Product Management, Strategy, Operations) and be their thought partner
  • Work with the engineering team on fostering ideas that will create a positive impact on the Merchant (customer obsession)
  • Lead a team building multiple 0 to 1 products
  • Solve problems for our customers (Merchants) that will help put more money into their pockets
  • Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 10+
  • Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
  • Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

We're excited about you because you have…

  • BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 10+ engineers
  • 8+ years of industry experience as an engineer in an iterative, product-focused development environment
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
  • Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
  • Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
  • Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
