About the Team

The Developer Platform org’s mission is to scale and empower DoorDash’s engineers by building a delightful and productive developer experience - empowering them to do their work quickly and confidently. Developer Platform solves DoorDash’s top engineering challenges across two pillars: Productivity and Platforms. With the toolset and infrastructure Developer Platform puts in place, every engineer will feel empowered rather than frustrated, boosting productivity to greater heights. They will feel like they can move at lightning speed through the codebase and deliver their features in record time. On Top of this, the platforms that engineers build on will be performant, reliable, modern and testable. They will have everything an engineer needs to be greater every day and be customer obsessed, leading Doordash to its full potential.

Our backend Kotlin engineers particularly need our help. As a member of the Kotlin Platform team, you will be focused on modernizing our tech stack, developing standard frameworks and providing novel ways to scale both the performance of our apps and productivity of our engineers. You will centrally solve cross-cutting problems for all DoorDash’s backends.

About the Role

This team takes on significant technical challenges that have a large impact at Doordash. Our work impacts every backend developer and service within Core Engineering. You will have the ability to help us shape and improve the Engineering culture in DoorDash as we create and implement industry best practices for backend development.

  • Building high-impact tech that shapes how we deliver our micro-service experience at DoorDash.
  • Focusing on reliability, performance and scale to enable Kotlin engineers to seamlessly deliver new customer experiences.
  • Establishing the Kotlin standards at Doordash including build system standards and common standard libraries for gRPC, HTTP, Kafka, data access and more.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 2+ years of industry experience in Java/Kotlin engineering.
  • You have at least 1 year of experience with Maven or Gradle build systems.
  • You have seen scale and know how to operate in it.
  • You have great ideas about Kotlin/Java platforms that just haven’t found the right company to take a chance yet.
  • You have a product mindset and apply that to how you would build out platform services. .
  • You love systems and software and are competent in both.
  • You’re curious and dive deep into different system architectures.
  • You are a leader, coach and enjoy creating opportunities for others.
  • You are an organized and excellent written and cerebral communicator.

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.

Colorado Pay Range:
$123,000$176,000 USD
New Jersey Pay Range:
$123,000$195,500 USD
New York Pay Range:
$144,500$195,500 USD
Washington Pay Range:
$123,000$195,500 USD
