The Consumer Platform engineering group consists of the Order Platform. This is a tier 0 platform that owns the lifecycle management of orders at DoorDash. The platform powers order workflows from end-to-end; consisting of pre-checkout, checkout and post-checkout systems. These systems comprise various services, such as event processing systems, data stores, and other technical systems. With a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and extensibility, the platform aims to enable each business line to effectively leverage it to build various products and features across DoorDash. The Order Checkout and Post Check-out teams own the core Checkout technical components (such as Order Service, Order Processing state machine/workflows, event processing workflows, corresponding Datastores etc.) and the post checkout components/services (such as adjustments, cancellations, merchant transmission and Order intelligence) of the platform respectively. These teams work closely with multiple product teams and downstream teams to make ordering at DoorDash a smooth experience. Further, they also enable other teams by powering their flows by either extending/scaling current offerings or building new platform features/offerings in partnership with them. The teams focus on maintaining a high bar around reliability, efficiency and platform offerings and to continuously evolve the platform so that product team interactions are smooth.
