About the Role: Senior Software Engineering Manager

Daye is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to assist in leading our growing engineering team as we continue to build innovative e-commerce and female health platforms. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on leader with full-stack engineering and DevOps expertise who is passionate about building high-performing teams and delivering impactful software solutions. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical vision, scaling our platform, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. This role reports directly to our Chief Technology Officer, working closely together to align engineering initiatives with Daye's overall technical vision and business objectives.

We are a remote-first company; however, the preferred location for this position is Sofia, Bulgaria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the design, development, deployment, and operation of scalable, high-quality software systems across our e-commerce and health platforms.

  • Drive the implementation of DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and automation to ensure reliability and rapid delivery.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with company goals and deliver value to our users.

  • Set and communicate clear team objectives, priorities, and performance standards, ensuring accountability and high-quality output.

  • Guide architectural decisions and technical strategy, staying ahead of industry trends and advocating for the adoption of modern technologies and processes.

  • Champion code quality, security, and performance, and lead efforts to continuously improve our engineering KPIs.

  • Develop and enforce robust cybersecurity strategies and best practices to protect sensitive patient data and company assets, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR).

  • Participate in incident management and ensure system availability and resilience.

  • Foster an environment of psychological safety, open feedback, and professional development for all team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in software engineering, with at least 2 years managing and scaling high-performing engineering teams, ideally in a full stack and DevOps environment.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy principles and regulations (e.g., GDPR). Familiarity with HIPAA or other health-specific data regulations is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

  • Deep technical expertise in full stack development (front-end and back-end), with hands-on experience in modern frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, TypeScript) and cloud-based architectures.

  • Strong background in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and monitoring solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy, make architectural decisions, and deliver complex projects in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • Experience building and optimizing e-commerce or customer-facing platforms is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive amid ambiguity and changing priorities.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
