Are you excited to build the backend systems that orchestrate intelligent, responsive fleets of robots in the real world? Do you thrive on designing infrastructure that brings autonomy to life at scale - from cloud-based task coordination to fleet-wide configuration management? At Cobot, we’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of our off-robot cloud systems. In this role, you’ll architect and implement the core services that enable our robots to act intelligently, recover gracefully, and collaborate with human operators through intuitive workflows. You’ll take ownership of distributed backend components, work closely with contractors to build front-end tools, and shape the foundational infrastructure that powers our fielded robotic systems.

Join us to reimagine the future of human-robot interaction.

Collaborative Robotics is a team of innovators and builders redefining the future of human-robot interaction. We are working to realize a world where robots are a trusted extension of your surroundings. They work, adapt, and react around you. Not the other way around.

This role is located at our Santa Clara, CA headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud based systems coordinating tasking and behaviors for a fleet of mobile robots
  • Develop tools and infrastructure for configuration management, artifact deployment and remote monitoring/intervention
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors to design and implement UI and front-end for the above
  • Lead development of off-robot cloud infrastructure to support robotic systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in either NodeJS or Rust.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts such as concurrency, failure handling, and data consistency.
  • Ability to own and deliver complex full stack features end-to-end — from requirements through deployment.
  • Proficiency with AWS or equivalent.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code.
  • Experience developing Service-Oriented architectures.
  • Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, collaborative and dynamic start-up environment as part of a small team.
  • Willing to occasionally travel.
  • Must have and maintain US work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with ReactJS.
  • Experience building cloud-based systems that interact with autonomous systems, such as mobile robots, autonomous vehicles, or other real-world agents.
  • Background in robotics or automation systems, especially related to task planning, coordination, or remote control.
  • Experience collaborating with frontend engineers or contractors to define and deliver backend APIs and workflows.
  • Prior experience working in early-stage or fast-moving environments.
  • Experience with AI tools to accelerate SW development.
