Position Snapshot

The Payment Posting Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily payment posting operations within the Posting department. This role ensures accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments, reconciliation of deposits, identification of posting discrepancies, and adherence to payer guidelines. The Posting Lead provides guidance to the posting team, monitors productivity and quality metrics, assists with issue resolution, and collaborates with other departments to support optimal revenue cycle performance. This position reports to the Payment Posting Manager.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the daily activities of the payment posting team
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of electronic remittance advice (ERA), electronic funds transfers (EFT), checks, credit card payments, and patient payments
  • Review and reconcile daily deposits with posted transactions
  • Investigate and resolve payment posting discrepancies, unapplied cash, and balancing issues
  • Monitor work queues to ensure productivity and turnaround time goals are achieved
  • Perform quality assurance audits and provide coaching to team members on posting accuracy
  • Identify trends related to posting errors, payer issues, or system problems and recommend process improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve payment-related issues.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new posting staff.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and departmental documentation
  • Generate productivity, accuracy, and aging reports for management review
  • Escalate complex payment issues and system concerns to management as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer regulations, and company policies

Experience and Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical billing, payment posting, EOBs, ERAs, EFTs, and revenue cycle processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of medical payment posting experience.
  • At least 1–2 years of leadership or team lead experience preferred.

Compensation

$65,000 - $70,000 depending on experience
