Skills and Competencies

  • Deep Expertise in Capital Markets: Extensive understanding of debt capital markets with demonstrated visibility and presence in relevant structured finance sectors such as RMBS and ABS. Prior work experiences with other industry leaders are a plus
  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of credit analytics, legal and qualitative issues in the relevant sectors through direct experience, with exceptional attention to detail and an ability to apply these insights effectively
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and nurture professional relationships across diverse stakeholders and teams
  • Team and Corporate Behaviour: Strong commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment, exhibiting integrity, inclusivity, and a corporate-first mindset
  • An innovative mindset: Proficiency in artificial intelligence and/or big data concepts is strongly preferred, ideally with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

The Structured Finance Group (SFG) within Moody’s Ratings is hiring an Vice President-Senior Analyst. Moody's Structured Finance Group offers an outstanding opportunity to explore career opportunities, mentorship, and long-term growth that best suits you, by deep-diving into research and analysis.

As a VP-Senior Analyst, you have an opportunity to join the Australian ABS new ratings team. The individual will develop strong cross-industry knowledge through hands-on credit analysis, methodology training, and collaborative engagement with new ratings and surveillance teams.

The individual will be primarily responsible for analysing the portfolio, structural, legal, and other credit aspects of new Australian and New Zealand structured finance transactions and producing publishable research. The candidate will be expected to lead rating committees and offer their analysis of the legal and credit risk of the transactions, potential credit impact of the terms of the transaction documents and conduct appropriate market dialogue around transaction credit analysis. The individual is also expected to undertake special projects intended to enhance Moody's thought leadership in credit markets and operational efficiencies, including digital enablement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead analyst for new RMBS, ABS and covered bond transactions. Analyse transaction credit and legal risks, model cash flows and analyse transaction and legal documents to formulate rating recommendations and opinions
  • Communicate effectively with customers, including arrangers, issuers, investors, and outside legal experts
  • Represent the team in operational reviews, issuer and investor meetings, and industry events
  • Write publishable research, including transaction-related reports, articles and in-depth reports on credit issues affecting the industry

About the Team and Role

Moody’s global Structured Finance Group is responsible for assigning and monitoring ratings to securities backed by pools of residential mortgage loans, auto loans and other types of collateral in Australia and New Zealand. The role is within the new ratings team, responsible for initial ratings assignment. The team is growing, but closely knit. Moody’s has been recognized as the Australian Structured Finance Rating Agency of the Year in the KangaNews Awards in 2025, 2023 and 2022.

We seek an energetic and team-oriented structured finance analyst, located in Moody’s Sydney office. The successful candidate will be responsible for credit analysis of complex structured financial transactions, including those involving new asset classes and structures, in Australia and New Zealand. You will also work on wide-ranging research projects and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our internal analytics and external impact.

The role requires frequent interaction with investors, intermediaries, and issuers, including at senior levels. It will include outreach initiatives both in Australia and on a broader regional basis.
