Title: Staff Software Engineer
Location: 7575 Gateway Boulevard, Suite 300, Newark, CA 94560
Duties: Work with Moody’s Insurance group as part of the Data Platform Engineering team to contribute to the development and enhancement of Risk Modeler, Data Bridge, Underwrite IQ, and Unified Data Store products and platform components. Focus on designing and implementing scalable database solutions, REST APIs, and platform components, utilizing enterprise-grade technologies such as Java, C#, and SQL Server. Define and execute multi-year technical strategies aligned with organizational goals, delivering large-scale projects that meet rigorous performance and reliability standards. Drive cross-team alignment to prioritize impactful customer outcomes while influencing strategic roadmaps through sound technical judgment. Provide mentorship to engineers, foster technical excellence, and lead the creation of scalable software architectures that optimize immediate and long-term requirements. Manage technical risks and challenges proactively, balancing diverse perspectives in decision-making, and collaborating with product teams to evaluate technical trade-offs and align solutions with customer value. Lead technical discussions, reviews, and documentation, while embracing ambiguity and driving change management initiatives that support innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field plus eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Architect, or in a related position performing software development and designing technical solutions. Must have experience with the following: delivering high-impact, multi-team technical projects; developing production-quality RESTful APIs and Microservices; programming in Java, Scala, C#, C++, or Python; advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, multi-threading, memory management and query processing; working with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle, as well as NoSQL data stores; cloud-native application development using Docker and Kubernetes, along with on-premises solutions. Domestic and international travel required approximately 5% of the time. Destination and frequency impossible to predict.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $213,512 to $243,700/yr, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
