At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills and Competencies

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade React applications, with deep expertise in Next.js (App Router) and TypeScript.
  • Proven track record of working in multi-repo or Monorepo environments and shipping changes that span multiple consumers.
  • Strong command of modern frontend tooling: Next.js, React, Vite, Nx, Yarn, npm, and ESLint.
  • Solid experience with design-system development — component API design, semver discipline, and managing breaking changes across downstream applications.
  • Proficiency with UI development using internal component libraries and Storybook for component documentation and visual testing.
  • Strong testing instincts with hands-on experience in unit and end-to-end testing using Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
  • Experience modernizing legacy frontends — migrating off older build tools, replacing deprecated UI kits, or upgrading major React versions.
  • Familiarity with SSO-based authentication, edge hosting platforms, cloud-based CI pipelines, and managed secrets.
  • Self-directed and able to navigate multiple repositories with diverging conventions, picking up each repo's contributor guidelines independently.
  • Eye for accessibility and frontend performance best practices.
  • Experience in financial services, risk, or portfolio-management domains is preferred.

Education
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is required.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Frontend Engineer within the Asset Management technology teams, you will collaborate with global colleagues to develop and enhance our leading products in the Structured Finance area. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing frontend quality, scalability, and consistency across the chapter

  • Build and ship features across a portfolio of products, both external and internal, ensuring high quality and alignment with product goals.
  • Contribute to the shared design system (~70 packages) that publishes an internal component library to a private registry consumed by every application in the chapter.
  • Drive modernization initiatives: migrating legacy applications onto modern frameworks, retiring deprecated dependencies, and aligning version spread across consumers.
  • Own quality end-to-end across design, implementation, testing, CI, and deployment.
  • Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Vite within an Nx-managed monorepo or multi-repo setup.
  • Contribute to component API design, enforce semver discipline, and manage breaking changes carefully across downstream applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and strongly typed code leveraging TypeScript to enhance reliability and developer productivity.
  • Implement accessible, performant, and reusable UI components, guided by design-system standards and Storybook documentation.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, evaluate design choices, and recommend suitable frontend technologies.
  • Write and maintain comprehensive unit and end-to-end tests using Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to uphold high standards of code quality.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams — including product management, design, and QA — to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with client needs.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve frontend defects and performance issues.
  • Contribute to documentation at each stage of the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior frontend engineers, sharing best practices and coding standards.
