Job Summary: The Equipment Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 6-8 equipment engineers (controls, mechanical, and electrical engineers) who support all lifecycle phases of Caelux's factory and lab equipment: RFP/RFQ, selection, installation, qualification (FAT/SAT), integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading, and decommissioning. The team also does custom design-and-build work as needed (both mechanical and controls). Typical deliverables include supplier scorecards, facilities matrix, P&ID, line lists, safety/hazard analysis, factory and site acceptance testing reports, controls ranging and tuning, spares planning, energy control plans, operation and maintenance SOPs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team growth: Analyze skillsets, identify gaps and opportunities, translate into learning opportunities and hiring plans. Provide feedback regularly to staff to help them grow in their careers
- Develop job aids and standard workflows: Develop and implement a comprehensive equipment development and deployment workflow. Create (or delegate creation of) templates for typical deliverables including supplier scorecards, facilities matrix, P&ID, line lists, safety/hazard analysis, factory and site acceptance testing reports, controls ranging and tuning, spares planning, energy control plans, operation and maintenance SOPs
- Manage team activities and coordinate with other teams: Plan and delegate tasks and projects to staff; secure resources; check on progress and adjust frequently. Coordinate activities and knowledge-sharing with other key teams (especially Process Development and Operations). Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of objectives and adherence to quality standards
- Roadmap execution: Set priorities for improvement of total cost, OEE, and throughput. Create test plans to de-risk new capital equipment investments. Identify and implement advanced technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement
- Strategic Leadership: Identify and make investment cases for new equipment that can help Caelux reach overall company objectives and customer expectations
- Quality and Compliance: Ensure equipment and facilities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Communicate progress and challenges to staff, other departments, and executive management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing equipment engineering, preferably with experience on an equipment team supporting first-of-a-kind process development work
- Track record of deploying industrial equipment for manufacturing
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities and experience.
- Strong team-management experience
- Experience in semiconductor, optical, or solar manufacturing.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD
- Awareness of common industrial equipment-related safety standards such as NFPA 70, NEC/NFPA 79, and OSHA requirements.
- Understanding of controls engineering, PLC/PAC controllers and IEC 6113103 languages (ladder, FBD, structured text, SFC), and communication networks (Modbus, EtherCAT, Profibus, Serial)
- Experience with vacuum equipment, laser equipment, or printing equipment
- Experience maintaining rotating equipment e.g. vacuum pumps
- Understanding of fundamental solid mechanics/strength of materials, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, optics, industrial controls, communications, data acquisition, and/or electrical power
