Strategy and Corporate Development Manager

Reporting directly to the Head of Strategy and Corporate Development, this role will be critical to the evolution and execution of Boku’s strategy as it seeks to accelerate revenue growth by diversifying by customer and product.

Scope and responsibilities:

1. Strategy:

  • Market intelligence: research on key industry trends and competitor actions relevant to Boku - assessment of implications and recommended actions
  • Investment priorities: assisting with assessment of organic investment opportunities against strategic and financial capital allocation framework
  • Financial modelling: forecasting ROI on strategic organic / partnership investments
  • Assisting the Head of Strategy and Corporate Development with strategic actions and special situations

2. M&A:

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive acquisition target set, mapped against strategic objectives, based on desk-top research and networking with intermediaries
  • Assessment of opportunities against strategic and financial criteria
  • Financial modelling: forecasting target financials; validation of operating; and financial assumptions; valuation
  • Assisting with deal due diligence: financial; commercial; legal; and technology
  • Assisting with negotiation of transaction terms and documentation
  • Assisting with integration planning

Ideal experience profile:

3 to 5 years' experience with training in an investment bank or Big 4 transaction services advisory role, or in-house (with CIMA qualification), plus ideally then some in-house corporate development role experience. Exposure to the payments industry as strong positive but not necessarily essential.

Key skills and attributes:

  • Fundamental grasp of corporate finance: forecast modelling; financing; valuation and combination effects
  • Strong understanding of due diligence process and pain points: what to look for, ideally with direct experience of DD processes (ideally in the payments sector or financial services more broadly)
  • Intellectually curious / critical thinker: understands and takes into account underlying strategic objectives / context when undertaking analysis and considering next steps
  • Dynamic: must have energy / tenacity, strong work ethic and initiative and judgment to take ownership of key deliverables
  • Strong inter-personal skills: able to work collaboratively and across functions
