Role Purpose:

The Risk and Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting the identification, assessment and control of risks across the enterprise. The role ensures risk frameworks are embedded and that key controls are documented, tested and reported on. This includes IT and cyber risk, legal and regulatory risk, financial crime, customer experience and business continuity and other regulatory risks.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with experience in managing risks, controls, and/or compliance obligations in the financial industry, including managing or supporting any of the following:

  • Perform risk and control assessments across all enterprise-wide risk categories.
  • Design and execute control testing plans to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
  • Monitor remediation of control weaknesses and provide assurance reporting to management.
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the risk and control framework.
  • Assist in documenting and mapping controls to risk registers and policies.
  • Contribute to risk appetite monitoring, escalation procedures and management reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits through evidence preparation and follow-up actions.
  • Work with business units to ensure controls are aligned to risk exposure and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Audit and other functions in line with the three lines of defence model.

  • High attention to detail, with a structured and thorough approach to documentation and testing.
  • Effective time management, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills across business functions.
  • Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of tasks and issues.
  • Experience conducting or supporting control assurance, audits, certifications or regulatory inspections.
  • Solid understanding of risk assessment methodologies, control frameworks and assurance testing practices.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platforms and tools.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g. CBI, FCA) is essential.

Measures of Success:

  1. Timely and accurate completion of risk and control assessments across key risk domains including financial, credit, and compliance.
  2. Effective design and execution of control testing plans, demonstrating clear understanding of risk priorities and business processes.
  3. Actionable insights provided to support risk remediation, with improved control effectiveness over time.
  4. Positive feedback from internal stakeholders and audit partners on quality, completeness, and professionalism of deliverables.
  5. Clear evidence of contribution to the maintenance and improvement of the risk and control framework, aligned with regulatory expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in risk management, audit, or control assurance, preferably within financial services or payments.
  • Professional certification in risk management, audit or compliance (e.g. IRM, ICA, CRMA, IOB) is desirable.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g. risk, finance, law, business) is an advantage.
  • Experience working in remote or hybrid environments is desirable.
