Job Summary:
Berkshire Grey is looking for a strong motivated Systems Engineering Manager to help lead the customer integration, commissioning, and systems validation across all product lines. This person will lead a team of 2-5 Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Field Applications Engineers from hand off from Solutions Architecture through go-live. This person will be responsible for interfacing our products with various customer systems, third party transport, and differing IT solutions. Lastly, this leader will be the key contact for customers on technical questions related to their robotic installation and the direct responsible individual of the system commissioning and go-live for their assigned project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributing manager with direct responsibility for the integration of Berkshire Grey product within existing customer facilities.
- Create Work Processes that improve timeliness of systems integration with customer, third party, and internal NPI solutions.
- Lead technical of the initial project scoping with Project Management, validate timelines, and identify tools/resources required for success.
- Develop standard transition check lists and lead transition from Field Operations Installation team to Systems engineering
- Partner with Project Management, Product Management, and the Business Development team to refine and capture the key or missing requirements associated with your projects.
- Partner with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply chain and Operations teams to rapidly identify system roadblocks, isolate the root cause, and move a solution forward to keep our timelines on track.
- Coach and mentor teammates and colleagues on use of standard commissioning tool sets and when required, develop or action the development of new tool sets across all products to streamline our commissioning process.
- Set project goals, initiatives, or tasks management for Systems Engineers working on the project.
- Lead and mentor Field Applications Engineers through rotational program via task management and providing professional feedback.
- Participate in the hand-off of production ready system to Field Operations team for customer operational training, production ramp, and contractual acceptance.
- Travel as necessary to customer, manufacturer, and third-party partner facilities.
You Must Have:
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Robotics or Mechatronics Engineering is preferred. MS weighted against years of experience, not required.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience working in fast paced technology integration proficiency or working knowledge as an individual contributor in 2-3 of the following technical areas; software, mechanical, electrical, or controls.
- Minimum 3-5 years in customer facing technical contribution, management, or field applications engineering.
- 3+ years using configuration management tools and reviewing drawings highly preferred.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and controls as an individual contributor.
- A positive attitude and passion for getting hands on and supporting the team in bringing our products into production
- Ability to work in teams, influence and align with cross-functional organizations, both internal and external, to deliver our products into production on time and on budget.
- Strong Communication skills in both spoken and written form.
- Ability to adapt to project challenges in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
- Flexibility to travel up to 40% as required by the project timeline.
We Value:
- Previous experience implementing complex interdisciplinary systems in the robotics, controls, or electro-mechanical systems space.
- Experience with robotic systems or systems engineering to identify the Interface Requirements for each system involved, whether it be Berkshire Grey metal, third party solutions, or customer enabled solutions.
- A strong track record of successful contribution to customer facing projects.
- Experience with automated material handling, control, and/or warehouse management systems and conveyor solutions.
- Knowledge as an individual contributor of testing, manufacturing, and quality control processes.
- Previous experience in design, development, or system maintenance.
- A self-motivated, positive attitude and the ability to be a technical leader working as part of the team with little management supervision.
- Agility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience working with JIRA for Task/Project Management and Schedule development in tools such as Smartsheets.
- Comfort with processes and goals that are not always formalized in writing.
