The Quality Engineer 4 will work directly as a member of a new product development team, applying their expertise to deliver a novel, integrated system to solve immediate customer challenges. The will work alongside other engineering disciplines to ensure a cohesive system design. The candidate must be capable of a great deal of autonomy with respect to designing and executing design verification, reliability, manufacturing quality, and field quality processes. We expect our team members to take poorly or partially understood problems and develop pragmatic solutions quickly and independently.

Functions

  • Internalize the notion of ownership, display the qualities of a self-starter and proactive problem solve on a cross-disciplinary product team to advance designs from conceptualization to customer acceptance.
  • Define quality strategies and metrics that ensure successful products, given customer operational needs and constraints.
  • Perform design verification activities, including the development of test plans, the execution of tests, and the analysis of results to ensure product quality.
  • Oversee field quality initiatives, including the monitoring of product performance in the field, the investigation of issues, and the development of solutions.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufactured to meet quality standards, and that manufacturing processes are optimized for quality and efficiency.
  • Prepare regular updates on quality metrics and initiatives.
  • Perform continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and reduce costs.
  • Travel to suppliers and customers as necessary to support build and installation of system.
  • Work with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and shippers to guarantee on-time delivery and deployment for fully assembled, functional, and tested electromechanical systems to customer facilities.

Desired Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Four or more years of related work experience in quality engineering, with a focus on high-level product quality and design verification.
  • Understanding of quality principles and methodologies, including statistical process control, root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Experience leading design verification activities, including the development of test plans, the execution of tests, and the analysis of results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams to solve complex quality issues.
  • Experience with field quality initiatives, including the monitoring of product performance in the field, root cause investigation, and effective corrective action implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Experience setting aggressive but feasible schedules/milestones for your own work and achieving them.
  • Ability to think strategically about risk in design, manufacturing, reliability, and mitigations thereof.
  • Writing with high-level technical proficiency (specs, test plans, reports, white papers, etc.)
