We are seeking a highly skilled SDET Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable test automation frameworks and quality engineering practices across our product portfolio.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong software engineering background who approaches quality from a developer’s perspective. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in automation architecture, modern testing frameworks, API and UI automation, and software development principles. You will work closely with engineering teams to build quality into the development lifecycle and drive a shift-left testing culture.

The ideal candidate will have 8–12 years of experience in software engineering, SDET, or quality engineering roles, with strong coding skills and hands-on experience building automation solutions using Playwright and modern development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and integration testing.
  • Define and drive quality engineering strategy, standards, and best practices across product teams.
  • Build robust UI automation solutions using Playwright and modern automation technologies.
  • Develop and maintain API automation frameworks to validate backend services and microservices architectures.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, and product teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the SDLC.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, providing input on testability, scalability, and quality considerations.
  • Drive CI/CD integration of automated test suites and quality gates.
  • Establish automation metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform code reviews for automation frameworks and mentor engineers on software engineering best practices.
  • Lead root cause analysis of production issues and implement preventive quality measures.
  • Advocate for engineering excellence, automation-first thinking, and developer-driven quality practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8–12 years of experience in Software Development, SDET, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation roles.
  • Strong software development background with proficiency in Java/Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Playwright for UI automation.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Strong expertise in API testing, REST services, and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and TestRail.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including version control, code reviews, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments and containerized applications is preferred.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Software Developer transitioning into Quality Engineering or SDET roles.
  • Experience with performance, security, or reliability testing.
  • Exposure to AI-powered testing tools and automation frameworks.
  • Experience working with enterprise SaaS products and large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience mentoring and leading automation teams.
