Retail Category Planning & Analytics Implementation Consultant

Role Summary

The Retail Category Planning & Analytics Implementation Consultants will support the implementation and operationalization of End-to-End Category Planning processes, including Customer Decision Tree (CDT), Store Clustering, Assortment Optimization, Shelf Planning, Planogram Automation, Floor Planning, and Customer Segmentation tools. The role combines analytics, solution implementation, and client collaboration to ensure successful deployment and adoption of the solutions while supporting the client in driving improvements in key business KPIs such as sales growth, category performance, and assortment productivity.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Implementation & Solution Deployment

· Support the implementation of End-to-End Category Planning processes and customer segmentation solutions within the client organization.

· Assist in configuring and deploying tools supporting Customer Decision Tree (CDT), Store Clustering, Assortment Optimization, Shelf Planning, Planogram Automation, and Floor Planning.

· Support the implementation and integration of Customer Segmentation tools to enable customer-driven category planning.

· Participate in solution configuration, system setup, testing, validation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

· Assist in resolving implementation issues and ensuring successful deployment of the solutions.

· Ensure analytics outputs and planning tools are effectively integrated into the client’s category management and merchandising workflows.

Analytics & Category Planning Support

· Conduct and support analysis related to Customer Decision Tree (CDT) development, store clustering, assortment optimization, and planogramming, leveraging customer segmentation insights to enhance category planning decisions.

· Support the category review process by preparing analytical insights and recommendations for category performance improvement.

· Translate analytical insights into actionable category planning and merchandising recommendations.

· Prepare and validate datasets required for category planning analytics and modeling.

· Support CDT, store cluster, shelf planning, assortment optimization, planogram automation, and floor planning processes using analytics tools and best practices.

KPI Delivery & Business Impact

· Support the client in driving measurable improvements in key category and merchandising KPIs, including sales growth, category performance, assortment productivity, and shelf efficiency.

· Monitor performance metrics and provide insights to help the client optimize category strategies and merchandising decisions.

· Identify opportunities to improve category performance and customer engagement through analytics-driven recommendations.

Client Engagement & Enablement

· Work closely with client teams including category management, merchandising, and insights teams.

· Support workshops and working sessions related to category planning and solution usage.

· Prepare documentation, analytical reports, and presentations.

· Provide training and knowledge transfer to support long-term adoption of the solutions.

Key Deliverables

· Support implementation of End-to-End Category Planning processes and customer segmentation tools.

· Conduct analysis and provide recommendations.

· Drive performance through insights and monitor KPIs.

· Working closely with client to support long-term adoption of the solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

· At least 5 years of experience in retail analytics, category management, or assortment planning.

· Hands-on experience using category planning or retail space planning tools.

· Experience supporting category review processes and category performance analysis.

· Experience supporting analytics or retail solution implementation projects.

· Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

· FMCG industry experience is preferred, particularly within retail, category management, or shopper analytics.

· Familiarity with POS, loyalty, shopper, or panel datasets would be an advantage.

· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
