Introduction

SymphonyAI is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our controllership team. This role focuses on accurately recording and reporting revenue in accordance with ASC 606 by analyzing transactional data, reviewing and approving operational transactions, recording journal entries, and preparing GL account reconciliations. The ideal candidate would be able to also analyze complex revenue arrangements and guide colleagues across teams on revenue recognition matters and design best practices to enable the company to scale efficiently. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting.


Job Description

What you will do:


• Perform month end close procedures around revenue recognition including running systematic processes, reconciling deferred revenue, and preparing manual journal entries as needed.
• Evaluate and communicate impact of executed contracts and other customer-facing transactions on revenue recognition and compliance with company bookings policy.
• Develop deep operational expertise to leverage systems, increase efficiency, and enhance reporting.
• Ensure that customer contracts are entered into Netsuite correctly. Effectively leverage shared services team wherever possible to ensure system accuracy.
• Prepare high quality analyses and supporting documentation such as fluctuation analyses and balance sheet reconciliations to support results to both management and external auditors.
• Work directly with members of SymphonyAI’s global shared services, sales, delivery, and finance teams to ensure proper revenue recognition.
• Take on ad-hoc projects and initiatives to support continuous improvement

What you will bring to SymphonyAI:


• Experience in US GAAP, particularly in revenue accounting under ASC 606, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external auditors.
• Strong analytical skills including ability to evaluate multiple scenarios and effectively communicate conclusions.
• Strong attention to detail demonstrated by ability to analyze complex situations with minimal errors.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to resourcefully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements/Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field. Big 4 CPA is a plus.
• 2 – 4 years of revenue recognition experience, with a combination of public accounting and Software/SaaS industry experience preferred
• In-depth knowledge of ASC 606.
• A high level of expertise using MS Excel (8 out of 10). Proficiency in NetSuite strongly preferred. Knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, or other analytical tools a plus.

This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence three days per week at our Palo Alto, CA office.
