You will lead and grow high-performing engineering teams (30+ FTEs) while scaling existing & new platforms that operate at the high-end of cloud-native architecture and intelligent systems.
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
- Leadership & Strategic Vision:
- Direct and inspire global engineering chapters, including Front End, Back End, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Engineering, working on complex, distributed AI systems.
- Drive strategic alignment of engineering practices with organizational vision, particularly focusing on AI-driven, cloud-native SaaS solutions.
- Innovation & Architecture:
- Translate ambitious technical roadmaps into reality, fostering a culture of invention, experimentation, and operational excellence.
- Drive system-level design to ensure scalability, reliability, and high performance across all technical solutions.
- Delivery & Operations Management:
- Oversee agile product development cycles, aligning technical delivery with business and product strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Data Science teams to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into our SaaS offerings.
- Proactively manage releases, resolve delivery obstacles, and coordinate cross-functional readiness with Sales and Marketing for new product launches.
- Manage budgets effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation and adherence to financial plans to achieve revenue targets.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Clearly communicate project statuses, technology roadmaps, and strategic outcomes to the CTO and other key stakeholders.
- Foster strong cross-departmental partnerships to ensure technical solutions effectively address business opportunities and market needs.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Cultivate an agile, innovative, and collaborative engineering culture across globally distributed teams.
- Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, cultivate talent, manage performance, and uphold a high-bar culture.
- Oversee workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding processes, and continuous professional growth within engineering chapters.
- Modernise development and delivery practices, leveraging AI capabilities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and competitive advantage.
What You’ll Bring:
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Proven experience leading engineering organisations of 30-50 people within high-scale, high-performance environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure), and large-scale software design.
- Clear examples of driving technical innovation and shaping the direction of AI/ML or intelligent platforms.
- Skilled in creating alignment across product, research, and engineering, with a track record of turning strategy into shippable results.
- Demonstrable success in managing budgets ($10M+ ) and delivering against financial and revenue targets ($150M+).
- Experience modernising engineering practices and delivery processes using advanced AI led capabilities.
- Technical familiarity with our stack, including:
- Programming Languages: Java, Python, JavaScript (React), Typescript, Scala
- Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS & GCP
- Data platforms: Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Minio, Redis, Iceberg
- CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps
- QA Tools: Selenium, JMeter
- Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
- Application Servers: JBoss, Wildfly
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively connect and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels.
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
