Job Description

Role Overview: As a Consultant/Contractor in Assortment and Space Planning, you will play a critical role in helping grocery retailers optimize their product mix and shelf space allocation. Leveraging your deep expertise, analytical skills, understanding of technology solutions, and knowledge of industry best practices, you will guide clients in aligning their assortment and space strategies with achieving business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement:

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their overarching business objectives, and supporting strategies as they relate to assortment and space.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to identify gaps in current assortment and space planning practices and align on desired outcomes.
  • Provide industry best practices as a benchmark. Partner with client to define process changes and identify business requirements for technology solutions.
  • Incorporate knowledge of leading technology solutions as you build the future state vision. Partner with the product team to translate business requirements into features and functionality for the technology solution.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, acting as a proactive partner who anticipates client needs and provides tailored solutions.
  • Develop and communicate a clear project and technology roadmap, including milestones, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Provide ongoing updates through structured touchpoints such as progress reports, check-in meetings, and executive-level presentations. Proactively communication and manage client expectations.
  • Support clients in navigating organizational challenges, such as change management or adoption of new tools and processes, to drive sustained success.

2. Training and Knowledge Transfer:

  • Educate client teams on best practices and methodologies for ongoing assortment and space planning.
  • Partner with our Learning Group to develop resources and documentation to support training and continuous improvement.
  • Track value delivered and provide regular updates to client to demonstrate ROI on investment.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree (MBA or advanced degree preferred).

· 5+ years of experience in grocery retail, with a focus on assortment and space planning.

· Strong proficiency in assortment and space planning tools (e.g., Blue Yonder, or similar platforms).

· Experience in grocery retail assortment and space planning.

· Knowledge of category management processes and strategies for grocery retail.

· Work experience in client service (consulting) or customer success, with a demonstrated ability to manage client relationships.

· Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering successful outcomes for complex consulting projects.

· Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
