Senior Engineer, Instrument Software
Personal and Professional Attributes:
- You have a talent for coding software abstractions that focus on being clean, robust, and maintainable
- You have significant experience writing production software in a real-time control environment
- You have created quality code in an agile software environment with an emphasis on automated testing
- You can perform root-cause analysis and debug software systems
- You have a strong desire to achieve commercial success with your company’s products
Responsibilities:
- Design and code across the entire software stack in our DNA sequencer instruments
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and program managers to create instrument control software features
- Communicate and document designs using behavioral and structural diagrams
- Quickly create proof-of-concept prototypes and evaluate feasibility
Required Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 4-8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a minimum of 2-6 years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related disciplines, or equivalent
- Excellent coding skills and fluency in managed runtime environments, such as .NET or Java
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Able to effectively interact with mechanical, electronic, quality, and manufacturing engineers
Preferred Experience:
- Diagnostic equipment or services in the life sciences industry knowledge/experience preferred
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Non-Field Based Employees are required to be onsite Monday-Thursday (Friday work from home). Depending on the role, some employees may be required to be 100% onsite.
You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties.

Salary Range:
$128,800.00 - $193,200.00
