Scientist II, Field Applications Support
PacBio is seeking a Field Applications Scientist with a strong customer focus to support the installation, training, validation, and implementation for customers, distributors, and collaborators using SMRT sequencing technology with the PacBio instrument.
The successful candidate will be responsible for training new hires, distributors and customers, methods development, execution of pilot and customer support projects and lab management. In addition, the ability to communicate with customers both pre and post sales, interact with marketing, internal support and development and communicate results to diverse audiences are important aspects of this role.
This individual will be working in a fast-paced commercial environment, interacting with customers, as well as other scientists and engineers from a wide variety of backgrounds. This individual is a partner to the customer and distributors in the understanding and analysis of data derived through the use of our 3rd generation high throughput sequencing system. The position is field based and located in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
Hands-on laboratory work preparing samples and running the PacBio instrument to execute experiments for collaboration and application development projects.
Support development of technical documentation and training materials.
Manage the laboratory by ordering and stocking lab reagents and consumables.
Knowledge transfer of methodologies/new product release from R&D to the field and support organization.
Provide scientific and applications feedback to development, marketing, and sales. Work with these teams to continually improve workflows associated with SMRT technology in order to support use of the platform.
Provide basic and advanced training for new hires, primarily Field Applications Scientists, distributors, and customers. Be a technical resource to the sales team.
Assist sales and support organization in conducting scientific presentations to internal and external audiences for pre and post sales activities.
Provide timely technical and application assistance in response to customer inquiries.
Support strategic accounts with experimental design, expertise in sample preparation and application development.
Troubleshoot and problem solve technical challenges.
Customer minded individual with the empathy to understand customer concerns.
Team player who can effectively integrate internal and field-based activities across functions to support internal teams.
Keep track of technical and customers’ issues by means of logging cases in CRM and work towards resolution in the most efficient and effective manner.
Required Qualifications:
Normally requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 0-2 years related experience; may include post-doctoral experience. Alternatively, a Master’s in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
A degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field, preferred.
Technical proficiency in general laboratory practices, biochemistry/molecular biology, including library construction and operation of molecular biology instrumentation and next generation sequencing platforms.
Excellent record-keeping and careful attention to detail.
Strong troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to balance several projects and customers concurrently.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent work ethic, exceptional judgement, and unquestionable integrity.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Proficient in English.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
The role is primarily on-site at PacBio Singapore Pte. Ltd., with flexibility to work remotely on occasion, depending on business requirements.
You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties.

Salary Range:
S$76,800.00 - S$115,200.00
