Anrok is pioneering the way in addressing a crucial challenge for businesses worldwide: navigating the complex realm of sales tax and VAT. As tax regulations continue to change and become more intricate, companies require a dependable and automated solution to manage risk and ensure global compliance doesn’t become a drag on their revenue. Anrok’s cutting-edge platform seamlessly integrates with various billing and payment systems, streamlining sales tax monitoring, registration, reconciliation, and filing across multiple jurisdictions.

In this role you'll design, build, and operate the systems that support our product and the engineers who build it. We're looking for someone who wants to own their impact and find simple solutions to complex problems that are tailored to our needs. We use GCP, Pulumi, Postgres, and TypeScript, but prior experience is not required.

In this role, you will:

  • Take responsibility for Anrok's reliability, security, scalability, and performance.

  • Drive technical decisions about our infrastructure.

  • Identify and fix bugs and technical debt.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and management to build high-impact solutions.

  • Example project areas:

    • Improve system observability and provide tools to enable product engineers to own application observability.

    • Scale our database layer through sharding, replication, and splitting out services when it makes sense.

    • Refactor existing systems to take into account present and evolving needs.

What excites us:

  • You have a strong technical background, with 5+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • You have 3+ years of experience operating cloud-deployed software at scale using config-as-code.

  • Experience managing relational databases at scale is a plus, but not required.

  • You have a security mindset and think carefully about edge cases.

  • You think through problems thoroughly to ensure we're building the right solution to the right problem at the right time, and you will push back when necessary.

  • Your designs take into account current and future needs, technical debt, and maintenance, and you can clearly articulate the tradeoffs.

  • You level up the people around you by sharing your knowledge and experience.

What we offer:

  • The equity upside of an early stage startup with the product-market fit of a later stage company.

  • Work where you want: the Anrok SF office or wherever you call home.

  • All of your medical, dental, and vision insurance covered 100%.

  • Flexible time off and sick time benefits, including company-wide vacation so you don’t need to play catch-up after time off.

  • Generous parental leave.

  • Annual learning and development stipend for books, online courses, and conferences, as well as a curious team to share your learnings with.

  • Quarterly in-person gatherings to connect with your coworkers in person.

At Anrok, we embrace a dynamic and flexible work environment through our hybrid remote model. Our team spans the United States, with half of our team working in San Francisco, while the other half contributes from various cities across the country, including key hubs such as New York, Seattle, Denver, and Austin.
