The Operations Manager is responsible for all manufacturing Aprinnova/Leland site. The incumbent will be accountable for meeting production goals and ensuring a safe production environment. To support this, it will be required to work collaboratively across all departments for consistency in application of common site processes and with the business team and customers to achieve business targets of cost and timeline.

The Operations Manager is ultimately accountable for overseeing production, maintenance, and Planning, Organizing, Implementing and Controlling (POIC) all aspects of construction and engineering processes. The incumbent will directly manage the plant engineering staff and is ultimately accountable for their adherence to production goals and safety standards. The Operations Manager reports to the site leader.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams, and by conducting safety audits.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures pertaining to ISO 22716—Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) guidelines for cosmetics.
  • Suspend or correct any activity posing a threat to employees, community, environment, and equipment.
  • Management of all plant operations consistent with company policies and in compliance with all local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Provides engineering resources for new products as well as established products that require new equipment or engineering studies to maintain production and quality levels.
  • Responsible for developing and achieving Operational goals including production cost and timelines.
  • Collaborate with department managers to manage and maintain all operational budgets.
  • Responsible for ensuring successful operations planning and budgetary forecasts; analyzes tracks & reports on operational objectives/strategy, production targets, and process improvements.
  • Develop, routinely compile and publish key performance indicators (KPIs) to communicate to management and all stakeholders how we are performing against our objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel in each department to ensure seamless communication and implementation of change.
  • Collaborate with key personnel outside of the site across Amyris.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors as necessary.
  • Manage direct reports in accordance with company policies, procedures, training, expectations, necessary disciplinary actions, etc. to include conducting performance reviews.


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in reaction, hydrogenation, distillation, and/or related process engineering areas.
  • Minimum of 1 years of plant operations/ management experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • Experienced with all Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience writing documentation for good record keeping and presenting.
  • Experience speaking with individuals across various levels of an organization.
  • Must possess availability to work hours as needed to meet operational objectives and be available to respond to plant emergencies.


Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb, bend and stoop; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
  • While working in this job the employee is frequently exposed to weather conditions including occasional extreme heat and cold.
  • Must possess the ability to wear a respirator.
  • This role is 100% on-site with no remote work option.

The annual pay range for this role is $102,500 to $159,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate’s skills, depth of experience and specific work location.
