AirHelp is a global travel tech company on a mission to make every journey smoother. We built our name helping millions of travellers claim the flight compensation they're owed - and that's now the foundation of a broader platform of travel protection and convenience products spanning the entire journey.

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build our Flight Data Systems - the real-time backbone that ingests, normalizes, and serves flight status, schedules, and disruption signals from a wide range of external sources. This data powers all our services that support millions of travellers around the world.

This is a hands-on senior role with strong ownership. You'll work primarily in Go, designing high-throughput, fault-tolerant services, and making technical decisions for the domain. If you're motivated by hard data and systems problems, shipping fast, and working in a high-trust, low-politics environment where your output actually matters, this is for you.

This is a hybrid job opportunity in Kraków, Warsaw or Gdańsk.

Salary:

  • If you join us as a full-time employee: 18.000 - 23.000 PLN gross/month
  • If you join us as a contractor (for specific projects): 19.000 - 26.000 PLN net + VAT/month on B2B contract

What you can expect from us:

  • Ownership of a core domain - Flight Data - where your architectural decisions directly impact the travel experience for millions of users and the reliability of the whole platform.
  • Culture that promotes good engineering practices, high-quality code, and continuous improvement.
  • Daily deployments to production, ensuring fast impact and iterative development.
  • Access to a modern tech stack and a variety of functional areas, including:
    • Backend: Go
    • Databases: PostgreSQL, Snowflake
    • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
    • Monitoring: ELK/Grafana, Sentry, GitHub Actions CI/CD
    • Testing: Bruno (API), Playwright (E2E), k6 (performance)

What you'll do:

  • Design, build, and scale Go services that ingest flight data from many heterogeneous external providers, reconcile conflicting signals, and serve a reliable, normalized view to the rest of the platform.
  • Own performance, correctness, and uptime of Flight Data Systems.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize and optimize critical parts of the platform, and influence architectural decisions across services and team boundaries.
  • Ship production-ready code daily, with strong testing discipline.
  • Improve internal developer velocity by contributing to shared tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Mentor peers and raise engineering standards through code reviews, design discussions, testing discipline, and documentation.
  • Partner with product owners and stakeholders to frame problems early, identify risk areas, and turn ambiguous data requirements into robust, maintainable systems.

What sets you apart:

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with significant depth in Go building production backend services.
  • Proven experience designing and operating high-throughput, data-intensive or event-driven systems - pipelines, streaming/ingestion, queues, and real-time APIs.
  • Strong grasp of concurrency, reliability, and performance trade-offs.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and data modeling for evolving real-world data.
  • Comfort working across the entire SDLC: from problem framing to deploying and monitoring production.
  • Experience in cloud-based environments (especially AWS) and with containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ownership mindset: you don't wait for tickets - you find problems and solve them.
  • Clear communication, constructive feedback, and a focus on outcomes.
  • Strong command of English (both spoken and written).

Bonus points for:

  • Experience integrating third-party data feeds, dealing with rate limits, schema drift, and unreliable upstreams.
  • Familiarity with the aviation/travel domain.
  • Experience with observability and SLO-driven operations for critical services.

Why AirHelp:

  • Fast Impact: We deploy daily. Your work goes live and makes a difference fast.
  • Culture of Autonomy: High trust, zero politics. We hire builders, not order takers.
  • Growth Investment: Dedicated learning days, personal development plans, internal workshops, mentorship, and language classes.
  • Perks: Private healthcare, wellness budget, travel stipend, gym/transport subsidy, AirHelp services for free, and more.
