Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
Affirm's Enterprise Risk team helps the company make better business decisions by bringing an enterprise-wide view of the risks that matter most. This isn't a traditional Enterprise Risk role focused on maintaining frameworks—it's about helping leaders navigate ambiguity, align on complex decisions, and make thoughtful tradeoffs as Affirm continues to scale.
As our Senior Director, Enterprise Risk, you'll partner closely with leaders across Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Credit Risk to solve high-impact business challenges where there isn't always a predefined playbook. Success in this role comes from exceptional business judgment, influence, curiosity, and the ability to simplify complexity—not simply operating traditional ERM programs.
If you're energized by solving hard problems, influencing executive decision-making, and building something different, we'd love to meet you!
What You’ll Do
- Partner with executive leaders to navigate complex strategic, operational, product, and regulatory decisions while helping build alignment across differing perspectives.
- Evolve Enterprise Risk into a trusted business partner by developing practical, scalable approaches that improve decision-making without adding unnecessary process.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence senior stakeholders through thoughtful challenge, clear communication, and sound business judgment.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that help Affirm identify, assess, and respond to emerging risks across new products, technologies, and strategic priorities.
- Strengthen Enterprise Risk capabilities—including operational risk, governance, third-party risk, business continuity, and executive reporting—to ensure they remain practical, scalable, and business-focused.
- Lead and develop a lean, high-impact team, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and thoughtful execution.
What We Look For
- 12+ years of experience in a regulated or risk-intensive environment such as fintech, financial services, or technology.
- Experience leading business transformation, strategy, product risk, operations, governance, Chief of Staff, Enterprise Risk, or similar cross-functional initiatives
- Exceptional business judgment with the ability to simplify complex problems and influence senior leaders.
- Proven ability to build trust, challenge constructively, and drive alignment without formal authority or operating as a control function.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, building new capabilities, and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and other business-facing teams
A Note to Candidates
You don't need to have spent your entire career in Enterprise Risk to be successful in this role. If you've helped organizations navigate complex decisions, lead transformation, or influence executive teams in a regulated environment, we'd love to hear from you!
