We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer in our Synthetic API Team. We operate within Developer Productivity - Test Platform Engineering. Through our flagship platforms providing synthetic identities, test data seeding and endpoint mocking our team enable Affirm Engineering Teams to perform both manual and automated, deterministic testing at parity between locations. We aim to create a workplace where Affirm Engineering teams can focus on creativity and problem-solving, empowered by simplified, repeatable, automated testing processes.

What You'll Do

  • Work with technical leaders in the team to design and implement insightful forward-looking approaches that go beyond the direct team and solve large open-ended problems
  • Collaborate with engineers within the Disclosures team and across other product engineering teams to create a platform that can be integrated with many teams
  • Take ownership over parts of the Disclosures system
  • Write high-quality code that can be easily understood and leveraged by others
  • Review others’ work and provide constructive feedback in order to maintain high and consistent quality standards across teams
  • Conduct technical evaluations to inform and influence the hiring decisions

What We Look For

  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Strong technical background in backend software development with technologies like Python, Java or Kotlin
  • A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be proficient in asynchronous mode of communication–written tech specs, wiki, project plans, etc.
  • Project management skills–high degree of organization and ability to surface critical information effectively.
  • Work with our Product team to extend our core decisioning service; building new risk and fraud mitigation features
  • Passion for working with multi-functional teams including Product, Design, Analytics and Business teams.
  • Experience with AWS and/or other cloud providers is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay Grade - L

Equity Grade - 3

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, which includes the annual base pay and the sales incentive target.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

POL base pay range per year: 252,000 zł - 352,000
