We are responsible for highly available, low latency, cost efficient compliant cloud based data storage, data processing, and analytics capabilities that enable all of Affirm’s customer-facing business critical websites/applications (e.g., checkout flows, merchant APIs, etc.) as well as back-office processes (e.g., Capital Engineering, Lending, etc.). To drive innovation at our scale, we need experienced leaders to build storage, data abstraction, streaming, transformation, analytics warehouse, replication, metadata platform, data exploration, governance framework.
Role
We're looking for an experienced Engineering Leader to lead our growing Data and Storage Services organization in Poland. You will bring a wealth of experience in managing teams and success in delivering highly technical multi-quarter roadmaps. You will also need to be fairly comfortable with ambiguity and possess tools to work through ambiguity, craft strategy and drive execution. You will be able to work with your team to define architectural/organizational future states that we can scale to in years 2 and 3. We’ll need to make balanced calls that align with our forward-looking vision and current business & technology critical needs.
What You’ll Do
As a member of the Data and Storage Services team, you will collaborate with other teams - including product, infrastructure, and site reliability engineering (SRE) to:
- Develop a team of engineers responsible for building frameworks, systems and tools to enable new Affirm products with business requirements that scale over millions of users, their transactions and secure data!
- Lead teams running storage services including relational, key-value and analytics storage infrastructure and tools at scale.
- Build a deep understanding of both business and engineering metrics and drive a culture of reliability, security and productivity.
- Work with multiple tech leads, technical program managers and product managers on security, tools, architecture, planning and delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
- Work multi-functionally across the engineering organization as well as with internal and external partners.
- Provide leadership and growth opportunities to your team members, develop talent, mentor engineers, recruit and represent Affirm hiring brands.
What We look For
- Solid leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in running diverse engineering teams.
- 5-15 years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Experienced knowledge of a dynamically typed language -- we primarily use Python, but members of our team have backgrounds in a wide range of technologies.
- Experience building software with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) frameworks and tools.
- Expreince building and shipping software on cloud providers such as AWS , Azure or GCP. We primarily use AWS.
- Solid CS fundamentals and hands on coding skills.

Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive package, with some highlights listed below. However, the given figures are not guaranteed compensation ranges; rather, they are unbinding, approximate indications of what the salary may be for your awareness. The actual salary may be less than the lower range or greater than the upper range, depending on skills and experience. No employee is guaranteed salary at the amount of the lower range.

Location - Remote Poland
The majority of our roles can be located anywhere in Poland.
