Academia.edu is a venture-backed, for-profit business based in San Francisco. Our mission is to accelerate the world's research, and we have spent the last 13 years building the largest online network for sharing and finding academic research and connecting with other academics around the world. With over 250 million users, nearly half of the world's academics using our platform every month, and hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers, we are well positioned to achieve our mission.
About the data team:
The data team includes folks from various backgrounds including academia, consulting, government, and tech. Product data analysts are embedded on various product teams, some of which currently include author products, publishing, user segmentation, mobile apps, and SEO. We rotate product team assignments every 6-12 months, creating opportunities to work on various products at different maturity stages. The team shares what they're working on a few times a week to enhance transparency and create space for within-team collaboration. Identifying opportunities for learning on your own and with others is highly encouraged. Our stack includes Redshift for our data warehouse; Sisense/Periscope for dashboarding; DBT for data transformations; and SQL plus Python or R for analyses.
Please note that this role is in the San Francisco Bay Area. We're excited to have a packed and lively office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Twice a week, those of us in the Bay Area come to our office located in the Financial District for All Hands, intense collaboration, brainstorming activities, and fun events. There are small rooms for 1-1 mentoring sessions or heads down work, and larger rooms for team activities. We continue to support a flexible work environment for all of life’s surprises and needs with generous time off and flexible work schedules.
Diversity and Inclusion:
